Shira Gavrielov Singer / songwriter

‘New comer of the year of 2007’ for many radio stations and magazines in Israel was the young and very talented Shira Gavrielov.

Her big break occurred in March 2007 when her first single from her debut album became a huge hit, obtaining the 1st position in many charts.

Over night Shira was a house hold name.

Born in April 1989 in Israel, Shira was destined for a life of music. Her father is a well known and established singer / songwriter who had written more than 900 songs, many of which are part of the Israeli existence.

Shira studied music from a very young age. She started playing the piano at the age of 6. At 10 years old she started singing in a choir and went to Berkley University in California for a summer semester, there she studied to play steal drums.

She had also studied classical Ballet and Jazz in Alma Frankfurt dance school for 7 years. At 12 years old she was accepted to the Blue Lake music camp on scholarship for a 7 weeks course. Over that period of time she studied acting, dancing, piano playing, vocals, gospel singing, R&B, choir and harmony. She went back for the following couple of years.

Shira had studied music as a major in the art high school of Alon, in Ramat Hasharon. At the age of 15 she recorded a single DJ entitled ‘Boy and Girl’ (Naar ve Naara) that went high up in the charts. Thanks to its success, she was offered to record an LP with the major label NMC Israel which she has denounced since she did not want to follow the line of a POP singer. She went on recording her album independently with several producers.

During that period of time and while recording her debut LP, she recorded a rap song for a youth TV series “Rosh Gadol” now going on to its 5th season (aired on the Kids Channel).

With the success of the theme song Shira started touring as a guest singer on the tour of KELE 6, a popular rap band.

When Shira was 17 she left high school and started attending at ‘Rimon school of Music’, which is a lot like Berkley music school in Boston and affiliated to it as a branch school.  She was one of the youngest students ever being accepted.

In March 2007 she released ‘Haboker Ya’ir’, her first single form her debut album. The single became a huge hit in Israel and went on becoming no. 1 in the charts of Radio plays, Cellular downloads etc.

Shira was the first unknown singer that was embraced by the mobile phone company. Having understanding her potential, they invested money in her video clips and her PR.

In late 2007 Shira was chosen to be the presenter of ‘Pasha Studios’, which is a fashion company.

Her LP, released in June 2007, in considered a great success in Israeli terms. Not easy for unknown singers, she had made the impossible of breaking into all the radio stations, selling a great amount of copies, achieving Gold and Platinum status in Cellular downloads and performing all over the country with her band.

Now days Shira is working on her next project – an LP for the International market.  The first track from her international project is a cover version of Gnarls Barkley’s ‘Crazy’, produced by top British producers Tom Nichols and Tim Baxter. The track had become a massive hit in her homeland reaching the no.1 spot on Israeli radio stations.

An interesting collaboration will be featured in Shira’s album – a song she had co-written with Adam Levy, a gifted guitar player who had worked with Norah Jones, Tracy Chapman and many more.
